CAMEL-T&T Project Update (September 2025)

From September 8th-12th, 2025, a residential ADL CAMEL-T&T workshop, titled “Advancing AI-Driven Military English Training”, was successfully conducted at the Language Center of the Military Academy named after V. Sargsyan, in Yerevan, Armenia. The event was arranged by SMEs from NATO Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP) eAcademy and brought together a diverse team of international experts from Armenia, Poland, Georgia, and Mauritania (online).

The workshop was designed to introduce participants to the NATO DEEP eAcademy initiative of the CAMEL-T&T programme. This programme empowers DEEP Partner Nations by providing an open-source tool for specialized military English training, utilizing cutting-edge Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) technologies and fostering essential digital skills to enhance the training experience.

The workshop targeted two primary groups: the CAMEL-T&T programme team and Professional Military Education (PME) participants who played a key role in piloting and disseminating the programme. The core objectives of the workshop was to enhance digital and technical proficiency of English language trainers and subject-matter experts (SMEs); develop competence in using AI-supported toolsfor military English training; pilot CAMEL-T&T programme items with target groups from Armenian PMEs; promote innovation and practical application of the programme within target groups; and foster a collaborative learning and training environment, encouraging exchange of best practices and shared expertise.

During the workshop, trainers demonstrated the system’s functionality and provided participants with hands-on experience in modern, technology-driven content creation, training and assessment methods. They introduced the platform, shared expertise, and guided attendees through the process. Participants included language instructors and Armenian Army officers currently enrolled in English language courses.

Throughout the sessions, attendees explored the platform’s structure, practiced with sample tasks, and discussed how CAMEL T&T can support both classroom-based courses and independent learning. The workshop also served as an opportunity to collect valuable user feedback to further strengthen the programme’s reliability and effectiveness.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their active involvement and successful completion of the training. The event not only enhanced professional development but also strengthened international cooperation in the field of ESP language training, while simultaneously advancing the integration of AI-driven solutions into military language education to ensure a more efficient, adaptive, and future-ready training ecosystem.
