As NATO DEEP eAcademy, we are pleased to present the outcomes of the “Social Media & VR in Education and Society” workshops conducted throughout the academic year 2023/2024. Over eight months we managed to organize 2 workshops per month for a wide range of participants. In this course educators were engaged in a carefully crafted programme, blending synchronous online meetings and self-paced activities, to discover a list of new technologies for use in training and education. During WEEK1 they learned about SM networks, their characteristics and opportunities which social media offer in the field of training and education. Modern solutions for searching for information and (in-)formal channels of communication were also presented. Teaching and learning with online platforms to enhance the educational experience, as well as the importance of personal (online) branding was discovered. Participants also gained the ability to recognise “fake content” in social media. WEEK2 presented VR and AR technologies, their specifics and possible training areas where they can be used. Examples of Virtual Worlds, VR and AR were described, together with their pros and cons for use in training and education. Culminating in the successful completion of projects by all participants, these workshops underscored their proficiency in utilizing technology to enhance formal and informal learning performance. The workshops were conducted by SMEs from Poland and Germany. Total number of professionals who have completed the workshop is almost 200 – above all from Ukraine, but also from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Germany, Mauritania, Nigeria, Poland, Romania.
