From March 31st to April 4th, 2025, a residential workshop titled “Enhancing Digital Training: ADL Technologies, Implementation, and Best Practices” was successfully conducted in Yerevan, Armenia. The event was conducted by three Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the NATO Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP) eAcademy and brought together participants from four key Armenian Professional Military Education (PME) institutions: the Military Academy named after V. Sargsyan, the Military Medical Faculty, the National Defense Research University (NDRU), and the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
The primary objective of the workshop was to strengthen the digital education capabilities of Armenia’s military academic institutions through the implementation of Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) technologies. Over the course of five days, participants engaged in a wide range of activities and sessions focused on six key goals: enhancing knowledge of modern digital training tools, fostering closer cooperation among PME institutions, and providing hands-on experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), multimedia content development, and contemporary e-learning methodologies.
In addition, the workshop aimed to raise awareness of ADL best practices and foster strategic thinking around ADL team collaboration, branding, and stakeholder engagement. One of the highlights of the program was the sharing of valuable insights and lessons learned from NATO School Oberammergau and Allied Command Transformation (ACT), giving Armenian educators a broader perspective on international standards and practices in military digital education.
The workshop not only equipped participants with practical digital education skills but also laid the foundation for future collaboration and innovation in Armenia’s military education sector, aligning it more closely with NATO standards and the evolving landscape of modern military training.
