On the 1st of October, the inauguration e-ceremony of the “e-Instructor Certification Programme. Edition #3” (e-ICP) took place. The activity, as a NATO DEEP eAcademy initiative, will run fully online, while the NATO DEEP ADL Portal (LMS ILIAS 7.2) and NATO DEEP VC Portal (BigBlueButton 2.4) will be used as the basic e-learning tools. The participants are faculty members from PME institutions from Allied and Partner countries. Considering the inauguration ceremony, of special importance was the presence of two guests: Mr. Mariusz Solis (NATO DEEP Coordinator) and prof. Piotr Gawliczek, PhD (NATO DEEP eAcademy Director).

Mariusz SOLIS
NATO DEEP Coordinator
He represents NATO International Staff – Operations Division where he deals with the Defence Education Programmes that NATO offers to partners. He advises partners on how to build, develop and reform educational institutions in the security, defence and military domain. He is currently a Team Lead for the Defence Education Enhancement Programmes (DEEP), run by NATO in support of capacity building on defence education. He also co-leads DEEP with Ukraine (in the past with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova). Prior to this position, he served several times as a diplomat (Minister-Counsellor) in Polish Delegation to NATO, where he was representative to the Political Committee. He earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Warsaw and the College of Business and Administration with specialisations in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, and Administration. Doctor honoris causa of the National Defence University of Ukraine, Kyiv (2020).
Piotr GAWLICZEK
NATO DEEP eAcademy Director
He graduated from Polish Naval Academy Gdynia. In 2001 he attended Strategic Course of the Command and Staff College of the Bundeswehr. In 2004 he completed Ph.D. studies at the National Defence University Warsaw. In 2005 he attended the High-Level Course of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC). He also completed the Senior Course of the NATO Defense College, Rome (2006).
In 2009 he defended his postdoctoral thesis (habilitates) on asymmetric threats. His research and educational activities are focused on information and communications technologies (ICT), Advanced Distributed Learning, and mobile learning within education and training. He is also focusing on asymmetric threats, strategic communications, leadership issues, and the Bologna Process. He supports the efforts of the partner countries within the Defence Enhancement Education Programs (DEEP). He has written numerous publications on questions of ICT, e-learning, Bologna Process, asymmetric threats, and leadership. He has implemented e-learning/ADL system solutions, based on the LMS ILIAS platform, in many military and civilian educational entities. His hobby is Nordic Walking and foreign languages.
