This month NATO DEEP eAcademy launched a workshop titled “AI within the Security Environment: Tools for Teachers,” aimed at enhancing AI integration in education and training. This initiative focused on familiarizing educators from NATO Partner Nations with the growing applications of AI within instructional settings, offering practical insights into AI’s role in transforming traditional teaching methodologies.
Participants explored foundational AI concepts, particularly generative AI, and engaged in discussions on the benefits and challenges of adopting these technologies in educational environments. Emphasis was placed on using AI as a supportive tool for instructional tasks, including writing, course design, and learner engagement, helping teachers streamline lesson preparation and personalize student support through AI-driven prompts and feedback.
A highlight of the workshop was its practical, hands-on approach, where attendees learned to use AI tools for creating multimedia content. Through exercises in AI-powered visual, audio, and video generation, participants acquired the skills to produce educational and promotional materials tailored for defence training and education environment, enriching their digital competence for practical application in modern classrooms.
This workshop also strengthened collaborative ties between NATO DEEP eAcademy and the European Security and Defence College (ESDC). The partnership emphasizes a shared dedication to advancing digital proficiency and promoting innovative practices within the defense education community, reinforcing the value of AI in both educational and strategic settings.
