Workshop on New Solutions in E-Learning, Implementation of VR, and Development of Integrated Learning Systems took place between 14 and 18 November 2022. Four participants from Azerbaijan were familiarized with the NATO DEEP strategy, the possibilities of using e-learning platforms in the training process, and new trends in education. Partners had also the opportunity to learn more about Virtual Reality (VR) solutions in education and to participate in practical training with the usage of VR tools. The workshop was also an opportunity to discuss global trends within ADL and good practices in the field of distance learning (creating multimedia, tests, surveys, and online courses). An important part of this event was practical training about the possibilities of using e-learning platforms in military education, based on NATO DEEP ADL Portal (LMS ILIAS 7.2) lessons learned and experiences. On the last day, participants from National Defence University received personal certificates of completion. Concerning the specificity of the undertaking – PPT presentation, live demo sessions and discussions, the workshop was conducted in three different locations – WSB University in Dabrowa Gornicza, Katowice Special Economic Zone KSSE (Sosnowiecko-Dabrowska Subzone in Sosnowiec, and Ignacy Historic Mine of Rybnik City.
The results of the workshop are also to be seen as tangible progress in developing digital competencies for Azerbaijan’s partners, and as another step forward on the way towards the ADL complex solutions within the higher military education system, based on the capacity of the National Defence University. These endeavors will be continued in upcoming workshops organized by NATO DEEP eAcademy with partners from Baku. These workshops will focus on Virtual Reality in education and the usage of e-learning platforms in the education and training process.
