Having completed productive sessions in 2023, the NATO DEEP eAcademy team is happy to announce the resumption of the 2-week online workshop in 2024, “Social Media and VR in Education and Society”, February sessions welcomed participants from Ukraine who were actively engaged in the workshops. The military educators underwent a comprehensive seven-day training, participated in five online BigBlueButton meetings, actively contributed to discussions, and spent two days working on the final projects. We are proud to announce that all participants successfully completed the workshops and received well-deserved Certificates of Completion.
New technologies used in education and for educational purposes provide a constant challenge for trainers and teachers. The workshop “Social Media & VR in Education and Society“ presents an answer to all those who crave to develop their online competence, and digital literacy and learn about modern solutions. The seven-day training is conducted in two ways: five synchronous online meetings held on the BBB platform, and two asynchronous days to work with interactive content on the DEEP ADL portal. The sessions are thematically divided into two weeks, which allows a thorough analysis of the tools and methods. WEEK1 concentrates on social media channels and presents opportunities that social media offers in the field of training and education. WEEK2 presents VR and AR technologies, their specifics, and possible training areas where they can be used. Examples of Virtual Worlds, VR, and AR are described, together with their pros and cons for use in training and education.
