NATO and Ukraine launched Russian War Against Ukraine Lessons Learned Curriculum Guide.

In January, NATO and Ukraine, under the Defence Education Enhancement Programme, officially
issued the Russian War against Ukraine Lessons Learned Curriculum Guide.
Throughout the war, the Ukrainian armed forces have learned valuable lessons that can improve the
warfighting capabilities not just of Ukraine but of NATO Allies and partners. This open-source
publication, based on primary sources provided by Ukraine, contains significant insights for general
warfare and specific warfighting components across the land, maritime, air, and cyber domains.
This curriculum guide contains lesson plans for use in professional military education institutions to
address lessons learned from the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine. Twenty general warfare and
specific warfighting topics were identified, and their associated 25 lesson plans were jointly
developed by a combined NATO-Ukrainian team of expert military academics based upon
assessments of subjects that would be of significant interest for defence education institutions.

It is crucial that NATO continues to push for and identify lessons learned from the war in Ukraine.
Ukraine personnel are ready to become part of the NATO Defence Education Enhancement
Programme teams that support Allied and partner nations in adapting the Curriculum Guide for their
curricula.
