Towards Digital Skills – NATO DEEP Mongolia Update

From 28 to 31 July 2026, a training programme dedicated to the development of digital education was conducted in Mongolia with the support of the NATO DEEP eAcademy expert team.

The programme aimed to strengthen participants’ competencies in designing LMS-based courses, developing multimedia learning materials, and delivering synchronous and asynchronous online education. The training focused on the practical use of Moodle, H5P, BigBlueButton and AI-supported educational tools.

The first day was devoted to technical and methodological consultations. Participants reviewed existing Moodle course structures, discussed platform organisation and access, identified technical and instructional challenges, and selected projects to be developed during the workshops.

The second day focused on LMS course design and multimedia content development. Participants created course structures, modules and learning pathways, prepared interactive activities and digital resources, and developed materials for asynchronous learning. They also explored AI tools supporting the creation of text, graphics, presentations, audio, video and interactive educational content.

The third day concentrated on synchronous online teaching using BigBlueButton. Participants designed online lessons and training scenarios, prepared multimedia materials for live sessions, and practised using polls, breakout rooms, chat, shared notes and collaborative activities. Particular attention was given to integrating Moodle, H5P, BigBlueButton and AI-supported content into coherent learning experiences.

During the final stage of the programme, participants presented their projects, received feedback from experts and took part in individual methodological and technical consultations. These consultations addressed LMS course design, multimedia development, teacher portfolios, synchronous and asynchronous teaching, and the practical implementation of AI-supported educational solutions.

As a result of the training, participants prepared or improved subject-based LMS projects, multimedia learning materials, BigBlueButton lesson scenarios, presentations, teacher portfolios and selected educational resources developed with the support of artificial intelligence.
