ADL directors meeting in Gol

ADL Initiative Global Partnership Network – Interim Directors’ Meeting was held in Gol, Norway, on 22nd May 2023. This event served as a significant milestone in fostering global collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of learning technologies. The NATO DEEP eAcademy representative at this event was Ms. Justyna Kowalczys, NATO DEEP eAcademy Deputy Director for English Language Training. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance with virtual participation, enabling a diverse group of stakeholders to come together and engage in fruitful conversations. The agenda for the meeting encompassed various key areas of focus. It commenced with welcome and administrative procedures, followed by an overview of the meeting and a comprehensive system tutorial to ensure seamless participation for all attendees.

A recap of the November 2022 ADL Partnership Directors’ Meeting was presented, highlighting the progress made and the key outcomes achieved since the previous gathering. This served as a foundation for building upon the momentum and advancing collaborative efforts. An announcement was made during the meeting – xAPI has officially become an IEEE standard! The implications of this achievement for the ADL Community and the Total Learning Architecture (TLA) Concept were discussed, emphasizing the positive impact on the advancement of learning technologies.

The meeting also provided opportunities to share tools and national lessons learned. In Part 1, presentations were made on Norwegian international projects and the development of Georgian ADL capabilities, showcasing successful initiatives and valuable insights.  Part 2 focused on sharing tools and lessons learned from the USA Moodle Instance, as well as a summary of the NATO Conference of Commandants and an overview of the Dutch Total Learning, Training & Simulation Architecture. Part 3 continued the exploration of sharing tools and national lessons learned, with updates on the NATO DEEP eAcademy initiative, further exemplifying the collaborative progress being made on an international scale. The meeting provided a valuable platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the exchange of best practices in the realm of learning technologies.
