Amid the global pandemic, the NATO DEEP serves as a catalyst for many educational events, ICT training, and conferences. One of the biggest outcomes of the discussions of 2020 and 2021, is the NATO DEEP Strategy for Distance Learning Support (https://www.nato.int/nato_static_fl2014/assets/pdf/2021/12/pdf/211209-deep-strategy-dist-learn.pdf). Also, between October 2021 and February 2022 NATO DEEP has successfully completed the first edition of the “e-Instructor Certification Programme”, which is a direct answer to some of the issues raised in the abovementioned strategy.
A closing ceremony, marking the completion of five-month-long online sessions, was held on 12 February 2022. The 19 civilian and military instructors from NATO member and partner countries received certificates of completion. Nine subjects, that are a healthy mix of methodology and technology topics, were conducted by 18 lecturers from i.e., the NATO School Oberammergau (Germany), University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (Poland), WSB University (Poland), Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia, European Security and Defence College of the European Union, National Defence University Carol I from Bucharest, and the NATO DEEP eAcademy. Three participants received a special “Jean d’Andurain Prize” – for the best student to commemorate the founder of NATO’s Defence Education Enhancement Programme. Based on feedback from the alumni, the NATO DEEP eAcademy will continue to support instructors with edition #2 of the programme.
