NATO DEEP eAcademy Press announces the publication of the book Policing the Grey Zone, edited by Marina Caparini and David Last. The publication can be found here: https://deepportal.hq.nato.int/eacademy/policing-the-grey-zone-2/. The volume addresses the growing challenges posed by grey zone and hybrid threats that fall below the threshold of armed conflict but significantly affect the security, stability, and cohesion of democratic societies.

Drawing on recent scholarship and practitioner experience, the book brings together contributions from experts from a dozen countries, exploring legal, institutional, and operational responses to grey zone threats. The chapters examine topics ranging from the rule of law, intelligence and policing, and civil–military relations to the impact of emerging technologies, information warfare, and transnational organised crime.

Developed within the framework of the European Research Group on Military and Society (ERGOMAS) and the International Society of Military Sciences (ISMS), Policing the Grey Zone is intended to support professional military and security education, as well as informed policy debate. The publication is made available as an open-access volume through the NATO Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP) eAcademy Press.
