Copernicus Forum – edition #3

The third edition of the Copernicus Forum, a series of meetings with security experts, was held on 05 March at the Faculty of Law of the University of Białystok. This time, the international format focused on the topic “NATO Agenda 2030: How to Engage Civil Society, Young People, Parliamentarians, and the Private Sector to Help Shape the Alliance”. 

The presentation was delivered by Paul Thurkettle, a British retired NATO civilian, whose 33 years in NATO covered satellite technology, Command and Control systems (C2iS) development and training and for the last 26 years education and training technology As the NATO e-learning manager, he was responsible for the development, delivery and management of all NATO e-Learning and development of technology to enhance NATO’s capability. He chaired the NATO Training Group on Individual Education and Training developments and the Partnership for Peace Consortium Advanced Distributed Learning Working Group. The Federal Government Distance Learning Association inducted NATO’s e-Learning Programme Manager, Paul Thurkettle, into its 2018 Hall of Fame. On October 20, 2022, Paul Thurkettle was awarded the title of NATO School Oberammergau Fellow and received the digital badge. Currently, he is the NATO DEEP eAcademy Senior Expert.

Copernicus Forum is the joint initiative of the Polish Association for Security and NATO DEEP eAcademy. It is a format supported by the University of Warmia and Mazury, the National Defence University of Ukraine in Kyiv and the University of Białystok, which aims to create a platform for the exchange of knowledge on education and security. It is also a space that fosters the creation of innovative solutions.
The 4th edition of Copernicus Forum is planned for Autumn 2025.
