Third Honorary Professor: Alan G. Stolberg, Ph.D., Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired)
Regulations
I. General principles:
- The regulations for the award for the title of Honorary Professor of NATO DEEP eAcademy, hereinafter referred to as the award, include individuals for their outstanding work in the field of Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL).
- The regulations for the award for the title of NATO DEEP eAcademy Honorary Professor have been developed in accordance with the highest ethical and moral standards.
- The award will be given to candidates who have been active for at least 7 years for the benefit and development of Advanced Distributed Learning solutions.
- Whenever these regulations refer to work for and the development of Advanced Distributed Learning, it is understood to mean promotional activities, scientific activities, the development of new solutions in the field of ADL
- The achievements which form the basis of the award shall have taken place from 2007, the time of the luanching of the NATO DEEP and the date of the application for the award.
- The award will be awarded once a year.
II. Procedure and rules for submitting candidates for the award:
- The right to share the candidate for the award shall be granted to:
- any member of the NATO DEEP eAcademy
- at least two members of any organisation related to Advanced Distributed Learning.
- The application for the award must include:
- personal details of the candidate for the award,
- a presentation of the candidate’s achievements for Advanced Distributed Learning,
- a presentation of the candidate’s past relationship, if any, with the NATO DEEP eAcademy,
- an indication of the reasons why the candidate’s status is requested,
- signature of the applicant.
- The award application should be emailed to the NATO DEEP Coordinator and the NATO DEEP eAcademy Director at: solis.mariusz@hq.nato.int and piotr@deepeacademy.com
- The award application must be sent by the deadline set by the Award Chapter
- Failure to provide the above-mentioned data or exceeding the deadline for submission will result in rejection of the application on formal grounds.
III. Composition and Procedure of the Award Committee
- Applications submitted by the deadline, fulfilling the formal requirements specified in part II, item. 2 are subject to consideration by the Award Committee, composed of:
- Chairman: NATO DEEP Coordinator,
- Vice-Chairman: NATO DEEP eAcademy Director,
- Members:
- NATO DEEP eAcademy Deputy Director,
- NATO DEEP eAcademy Deputy Director for ICT Matters,
- NATO DEEP eAcademy Deputy Director for Academic Affairs,
- NATO DEEP eAcademy Deputy Director for English Language Training.
- Each member of the Committee shall have 1 vote.
- The date of the Committee meeting shall be set by the Chairman of the Committee.
- The Award Committee shall select the candidates for the Award in an open vote by simple majority. The quorum is 4 members of the Award Committee. In the event of a tie, the Committee Chairman’s vote is decisive.
- Any matters not covered by the rules of procedure and arising during the Committee’s work are to be decided by the Committee. In case of disputes, voting is decisive in accordance with the rules in pt. III. 4.
- The service of the Award Committee is provided by the Vice-Chairman of the Award Committee, who is in particular responsible for:
- verification of the formal aspects of the applications,
- preparing the list of applications,
- drawing up the minutes.
- Members of the Award Committee are obliged not to disclose matters that are the subject of the Committee’s deliberations.
IV. Criteria for Awarding Prizes
- A candidate of the award for the title of NATO DEEP eAcademy Honorary Professor may receive the award for significant activities having a real impact on shaping favourable conditions of NATO DEEP/ NATO DEEP eAcademy operations, development and significantly enriching the output of the Programme.
- The conferment of the title of NATO DEEP eAcademy Honorary Professor is a form of recognition expressed by the entire NATO DEEP community.
V. Funder of the award
The founder of the award (statuette) is the NATO DEEP eAcademy partner Polish Association for Security.
VI. Final provisions
- The awards are presented annually at a ceremonial meeting, i.e. during the Clearing House Conference.
- Each awardee receives a certificate and a NATO DEEP eAcademy statuette.
- The provisions of the regulations are binding on applicants and candidates for an indefinite period of time.
- NATO DEEP eAcademy provides for the possibility to terminate the content of the by-laws with three months’ notice.
- Any change to the content of the bylaws shall require a written form and the consent of all parties concerned, approved by a decision of the NATO DEEP Coordinator.
