The “e-Backpack” concept is now implemented in the NATO DEEP eAcademy. After weeks of testing in February NATO DEEP eAcademy implemented the “e-Backpack” concept.

In the beginning, the first digital badges were received by the graduates of the 3rd edition of the e-Instructor Certification Programme, and on February 25, new participants of the 4th edition began their efforts to enlarge their e-backpacks with new achievements.

NATO DEEP approach. Within the NATO DEEP ADL Portal, in the ‘e-Backpack’ dedicated tile (box), each user with an active account can collect and share any micro-certificates obtained. Digital badges, also called digital credentials or micro-credentials, are online visual representations of skills and competencies earned through learning.

It relates to the courses completed, on the NATO DEEP ADL Portal, as well as on MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) platforms, i.e. Canvas Network, Cognitive Class, Coursera, and edX. Also, it is possible to collect digital badges, but not only.

Practical approach. Four areas are now available to gather different types of content:

  1. External certificates – to upload certificates from, for example, MOOC platforms.
  2. Digital badges – badges that the user will receive after completion of the ADL courses on the NATO DEEP ADL Portal. Also from other sources, accordingly
  3. NATO DEEP ADL Portal certificates – for courses completed on the portal, to be printed if necessary,
  4. Portfolio- it is possible to link it to your own profile on the ILIAS platform to make it visible to other users,
  5. Notes – an area for creating and storing individual notes .
