On 21 September 2026, the NATO DEEP eAcademy project team held a meeting to launch the development of a new online course dedicated to the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) in the AI-enabled learning ecosystem.
The course is being developed in response to needs expressed by NATO DEEP Partners, particularly to strengthen competencies in the design of modern online learning and the practical application of AI solutions in education and training. The kick-off meeting focused on identifying the expectations, challenges, and practical needs of the DEEP Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) community. Participants discussed how modern AI tools can support the different stages of the ADDIE model. An important part of the meeting was the exchange of practical experiences and recommendations from professionals involved in ADL, instructional design, and digital education. This exchange helped further define the scope and objectives of the future course and ensure that it addresses the real needs of instructors, course designers, trainers, and administrators working in digital learning environments. The planned course will go beyond the traditional understanding of the ADDIE model, demonstrating how it can be adapted to an environment in which artificial intelligence increasingly supports training needs analysis, content development, learning activity design, personalisation, and the evaluation of learning outcomes. Further development will build on the needs, experiences, and recommendations identified in collaboration with the DEEP ADL community.
