On 27–30 March 2026, a working group meeting dedicated to the development of the “AI PME Instructor Employment Guide” was held in Olsztyn, Poland. The event brought together experts and representatives involved in professional military education and the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions in educational and training environments. The meeting focused on defining the role of the AI instructor within Professional Military Education (PME), identifying required competencies, reviewing current practices, and discussing the next steps in the development of common guidance and supporting materials. Over the four days, participants took part in introductory sessions, thematic discussions, and workshop-based activities. The opening day was devoted to participant introductions, the overall scope of work, and an exchange of views on the challenges related to AI implementation across participating countries. Further sessions addressed the role and profile of the AI instructor, good practices in military education, and the presentation of DEEPAIx as a teacher support environment, including platform updates and implementation plans. The second day focused on practical aspects of content creation and competency development. Discussions covered DEEP AIx tasks, the design of AI competencies for PME, competency levels, the scope of instructor training, and updates to the OTFC programme. These sessions helped frame the knowledge and skills that should be included in future guidance for instructors working in AI-related educational settings. On the third day, the participants reviewed selected best practices and project experiences, including insights from CAMEL T&T, MEDCAMEL, and the ELT perspective. Workshop sessions also explored teaching methods, learning environments, structural approaches to instruction, and practices derived from DEEP activities. Considerable attention was given to training scenarios and exercise development, particularly in relation to the use of AI and VR in training. The day concluded with a consolidation session summarising the main assumptions and conclusions emerging from previous discussions. The final day was dedicated to practical working sessions on content development and infographics, as well as the continued drafting of scenarios and supporting materials. The meeting concluded with a final summary session during which participants reviewed draft assumptions, discussed future planning, and identified the next steps for further development of the guide. The event confirmed the importance of continued international cooperation in shaping standards for AI instructors in PME. It also highlighted the need to further develop training content, teaching tools, and structured competency frameworks that can support the effective integration of artificial intelligence into military education.
